I currently reside in Palm Springs. I
came here through a series of synchronicities, all amazing experiences. Not that my story matters now, as I see the Oneness in
everything.
My journey started in
Mercer, a small town in
western Pennsylvania. I came forth on my parents' thirteenth
wedding anniversary, but I didn't come into this world alone. My
identical twin sister Pam followed me twelve minutes later. We
joined our older brothers, Charles (now known as Chuck) and Stephen (known
now as Steve).
Mom had us at thirty-seven, fairly old to
be taking care of four children under the age of four. Dad, being
two years older, left us in Mom's charge to be an office manager. We
lived in the same town as Dad's parents, who lived right across from our
church, a Presbyterian congregation, just off the town square.
My life took some twists and turns.
When Pam and I started talking, we spoke our own language, not unusual for
twins. But Pam eventually started talking "normally" and I never
made that transition. I became the twin who couldn't be understood
except when Pam talked for me.
Even with speech therapy, I couldn't speak
correctly. Being a smart kid, I did well in school, except for being
understood when I spoke. I started playing clarinet in fourth grade
with Pam playing the flute. I moved to the tenor saxophone in junior
high. Mom played piano and organ, primarily at church for
Sunday services.
After I graduated from high school, I went
to Thiel College and majored in
mathematics. I, to some degree, followed in my father's footsteps.
Pam went to Carnegie Mellon and majored in Textile and Clothing.
The summer before my freshman year of
college, Mom and I traveled regularly to Pittsburgh to a cleft palate
clinic. The doctors determined the source of my speech problem and
determined that surgery would repair it. To my frustration,
the surgery had to be delayed until the following summer.
I graduated from Thiel College and married
Jim, an engineer at a television station in Cleveland. I moved there and started on an MBA at Cleveland State University and worked
part time for a small data services company.
The data services company acquired by
IBM released me from my part-time employment at the same time I found a job through a recommendation of an IBM
recruiter. I started working as a programmer for AT&T Long Lines in
January, 1974, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Pam's marriage and mine both ended in 1977.
I moved to Chicago, transferred there with AT&T, to share an apartment with her
on the lakefront, just off Oak Street beach and Michigan Avenue.
I worked with AT&T in Chicago until 1998,
when I retired at the age of 46 1/2. I'd recently divorced my second
husband and knew I had other things to do, some combination of healing,
teaching, and writing.
After several years, Thor, my hairdresser
-- a very spiritual man -- suggested that I get busy on my book. I
almost finished the first draft in the five weeks between my appointments. He said, "You're right on track, but I don't see you
staying in Chicago. I see you living in the Southwest."
The next day, my brother from Southern
California called with an offer to rent me his geodesic dome in Idyllwild, the
mountains outside of Palm Springs. I quickly agreed, to Chuck's
surprise.
I now had to find a healing modality.
I'd tried Therapeutic Touch, but found it too woo-woo. At the
suggestion of my Shiatsu body worker, I spent five days learning Ohashi
Shiatsu and found it too hard on my knees.
Through Dr. Libby, my allergist and a
NAET practitioner, I started reading the
Kryon books (channeled by Lee Carroll) and found the modality,
EMF Balancing, created by Peggy
Phoenix Dubro. As soon as I signed up to learn the technique, my
house sold the next day for the third and final time.
I moved to Idyllwild in April 2000 and flew
to New Hampshire the following week to attend the class with Dr. Libby. My logical mind
liked the work, even though the training materials needed some organizing
on my part. I started doing the first four phases of the work.
I eventually met a group in Idyllwild who did a different form of energy
work.
I lived in a large four bedroom dome
with several skylights, with
a panoramic view of a valley. The weather,
being at 5200 feet, had seasons similar to Chicago. Many friends
came to visit, but I eventually found Idyllwild to be too far from
everywhere. Driving down the mountain took an hour to get anywhere,
and the black ice in the winter made one route extremely treacherous.
I'd found a writing group through the NAET
practitioner who continued Libby's work. I quickly learned I had a
lot of work to do to engage my reader. Working with
Bruce McAllister, and the
other writers, helped me tremendously.
Through a relationship, I
left "the hill" and moved to Cathedral City. After six months, I
moved on to Palm Desert for a couple of months, before I finally settled
into Palm Springs, for the last five years.
I live with my two cats,
Hope and
Peace, who traveled with me from Chicago. I'd needed the allergy
clearing because I was tremendously allergic to them. After one NAET
treatment, I no longer reacted to my cats. It was wonderful!
I need to thank
Norman Lasiter for his love
and patience as I've done a lot of work on his website. Through that
experience, I felt compelled to create this site. His site, with the
audio and video, brought challenges my way. I needed to create a chocolate website
and now I had the necessary experience. Norman sings like an angel and I
sometimes go to hear him practice in his framing shop, just next
door -- he adds many blessings to my life.
I continue to focus on my writing, healing work, and spiritual journey. I've found several people
important to me. Many have come and gone as I've learned the lesson
they've brought with them.
Sending love and light,
Patricia
